  • What about a field trip, who could not make a Wednesday evening trip?
  • What skills already exist in our class?
  • As a teacher yourself, what are some of the factors that contributed to your teaching style? What are the theories governing your teaching & learning?
  • What is an authoring environment?
  • What about video?
  • What is an information network?
    1. This week's class and the assignments for next week meet in whole or part objectives #s 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 14, 17, 19, 20, 27.
    2. Let's hear from each group. How are you progressing toward build a unit plan? What is working? What's not working? Which multi-media(s) will you choose in bringing your unit plan into the light of day?
    3. We will meet in groups again tonight, I expect that one member from each group will talk to me before leaving tonight about your developing group dynamics.
    4. Tell me, what do you think of our discussions during our first weeks of class?
  • Let's make some time for groups to begin discussing projects.
  • Suggestion -- Unit Plans that include Web Quests, (PowerPoint) presentations, analog and digital video, and traditional media components.
  • A PowerPoint presentations could be used to introduce the Unit to students.
  • WebQuests can be used to direct students to valid resourses available on the World Wide Web.
  • A traditional analog video could give additional background.
  • In class activities that involve traditional and digital media are also usefull.
  • You work is also useful to others teachers by using the Teacher WebQuest model.
  • The information in a Teacher's Web Quest is designed to make it possible for others to use your work, and to document your work for yourself. For example ... who are the targeted learners, what is the teaching/learning process used, what resourses will be needed to execute this plan, how will work be evaluated, and what Curriculum Standards are satisfied.
  • The Teacher's Web Quest is also used to give proper credit to the work of others used in your Unit.

A think piece, it is part of PBS OnLine -- an extensive web site actively maintained by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Please feel free to explore this site. PBS onLine is a rich source of educational based content. It is an example of an Education Portal, a digital library, an information broker?
    3. Visit other articles by Dr. Thornburg. For example What makes the Web special?
    4. Your assignment, Jim ... ahhh -- class, if you choose to accept it is to ...
    5. In one paragraph (or so), react to Dr. Thronburg's (one or more) ideas concerning technology in education.
    6. From your exploration of PBS's web site , point us to one on-line resource you find interesting. Explain why.
