We are invited to visit the Information Networks at the schools of:.

  • Julie Bergeron
  • Mark Lassere
  • Dana Chaplow
  • Anyone else want to volunteer their school?
  • I've scheduled 3 field trips, but we can do more or less. Let's talk.

    In Class tonight:

  • What about Socrates, Plato and Aristotle.
  • Register as yourself in our Discussion Board and Chat area.
  • Set up a Discussion Board for yourself.
  • Using your preferences, lets paste in your picture.
  • We need to form groups. Name your group.
  • Set up a Discussion Board for your Group.
  • Set up a Chat Area for your Group.

  • We need to propose dates, so that next week we can schedule our field trips.

  • Dana, what is NPR is saying about technology in education.
  • Tell me something about the history of technology in education.
  • What's happening today techoloyically in your schools (or your personal life as an educator) .
  • Describe for me what possible futures can be constructed based on what we currently know about technology in education.
  • What is information network infusion?
  • What are problems we face as educators?
  • How could we expect information network infusion to affect the problems we face.
  • What is important to know?
  • What is complexity ... and why am I asking?

    House Keeping
  • Who didn't receive eMail from our list, redCap.
  • Can you edit your Class Web Page?

  • Assignment for next week:

Considering ethical, legal, and human issues involving schools ...

  • On not more than one page, write a "Fair Use Policy" for the Information Networks in your school, or your class room, or your future classroom.
  • This assignment will be posted to our Discussion Board titled "Fair Use Policy."
  • This will be a recurring assignment, i.e. from time to time you may want to edit your fair use policy.
  • This is a huge topic, don't feel like you need to cover everything. Pick an area of interest and be specific about that ... don't generalize about a lot of different topics.
  • A Fair Use policy could be written for students, or for teachers, or for parents, for computer use, for use of the World Wide Web, for composing MultiMedia documents, for ... many different resoursed, for many different audiences, for many different purposes. Don't worry, you will not make a wrong pick.
  • Visit Links to Explore for ideas of what to include in your "Fair Use Policy."
