Evaluation and Assessment of Technology

Final Exam

Using our Discussion Board, everyone will discuss the topics listed below. You will be expected to touch on each of the 12 topics. You will provide your own ideas and you will comment on the ideas of others. Comments on the ideas of others will be substantive.

Topics

  1. Discuss what you observed during our in-class presentations and how you might used what you learned in developing your own lessons
  2. Investigate and summarize principles and practices of educational research as it applies to technology in educaiton
  3. Discuss trends in use of Technology in education
  4. How can theories of learning and teaching be used to support technology
  5. Document human equity issues as they relate to use of technology in schools
  6. Discuss how you would evaluate the use of a specific technology in a PK-12 environment
  7. Describe an authoring environment and how to use it in a classroom setting
  8. Discuss what you observed during our field trips to Bonnable H.S. and Miller Wall Elementary and how you might used what you learned in an educational setting
  9. Describe strategies for evaluating instructional technologies -- how would you decide if it is appropriate in your classroom
  10. List some ideas about how "Internet Chat" can be used in a classroom setting
  11. What is your "biggest fear" (or the area in which you most wanted to improve) in using educational technologies?
  12. Discuss what we did in our class that helped you better use technology in an educational setting.

Work on Exam 4 (final exam) is due continuously over the next 3 weeks -- from Tuesday November 13 to Tuesday December 4.

During week one you should post original messages to half of the 12 topics. Deadline for this is Sunday, November 12. During week two you should post original messages to the remainder of the 12 topics. By the end of week three (3) you should have provided substantive commnets on the ideas presented by your classmates. You SHOULD NOT wait until week three (3) before beginning your comment process. You should visit this class discussion a few times each week, providing comments each time you visit. There is a total of thirty (30) points available, so you do have some discression on how to complete this assingment.

This is an instructor graded exercise worth 25 points toward your final grade as follows:
  1. one (1) point for each original message posted (maximum 12 points);
  2. one (1) point for each message posted with substantive comments on the ideas of others (maximum 12 points);
  3. one (1) point for each day you visit this discussion and post a message (maximum 6 points);
  4. MAXIMUM 2 points per topic.
  5. MAXIMUM 25 points
The instructor will continually monitor these discussions and will eMail individuals posting messages with content that does not meet the "spirit" of our assignment. Such messages cannot be used to calculate a grade for this assignment.

On Sunday evening, December 2, you are expected to eMail George with your calculation of a grade for our Final Exam. For example:
