Answer the following questions, in complete sentences, in your journal for Day 1:

1. What is a fetal pig?

2. Where did it come from?

3. Why are we studying the pig?

4. What would have happened to this pig, if we had not purchased it for study?

5. What was the estimated age of the pig in the lab?

6. How did you determine this?

7. Describe the function of the umbilical cord.

    c. What is is made of?

    d. What does it carry?

    e. Describe the structure of the arteries and vein.

8. What was special about the ears? the eyes? mouth? teeth? compared to your own.  Try to think of a reason why they would be different.

9. What was special about the feet and toes, compared with your own?  Why are they different?

10. Identify the sex of your pig.  Locate and identify each part.

11. Be sure to look at a pig of the opposite sex.  Locate and identify each part.
