education is a "just society." The role of the teacher is to question the student in order

to unlock the windows of the mind and free the preexisting knowledge. I feel the

concept of teacher as questioner is a wonderful tool to help students learn to use their

minds well, however, I do not believe all truth already exists. Like Dewey, I believe that

truth changes as time passes especially the essential truths that are to be taught in

schools. Dewey was set on education for a democratic society. What students need to

know to exist in today's society is what we need to teach.

Change is happening. The rate of change is increasing. Unlike Dewey, I believe

that we need to prepare students not for the society of today, but for the society of

tomorrow.

What should be the aims or purposes of education? Who should be educated?

Should education differ according to natural interests and ability? What role should the

state play in education? The reason these remain debated questions in the

philosophies of education is because the answer to these questions change.

A philosophy intends to rationalize the causes and laws of underlying reality.

Reality changes.
