Tutorial 4, Case Problem 4

TravelWeb E-Zinc Magazine

You have joined the staff of TravelWeb, which provides travel information and tips to online subscribers. You have been asked to work on the layout for the E-Zine Magazine Web page. Below is a description of the files that you have been given to use in creating the page.

Before beginning this task:
  1. Advice: Complete Tutorial 4 in your text book. Practice with Case Problems 1, 2, and 3.
  2. You may want to make a new folder on your computer, and on your web site to contain all the files for this project.
  3. Before getting too far along, review the content of the text files and view the image files.
  4. luxair.txt - Article about LuxAir reducing airfares to Europe
  5. photo.txt - Article about the Photo of the Week
  6. ppoint.jpg - Large version of the Photo of the Week (320 x 228)
  7. ppoint2.jpg - Small version of the Photo of the Week (180 x 128)
  8. toronto.txt - Article about traveling to Toronto
  9. twlink.htm - Links to other TravetWeb pages (list version)
  10. twlink2.htm - Links to other TravetWeb pages (table version)
  11. twlogo.jpg - Image file of the TravelWeb logo (425 x 105)
  12. yosemite.txt - Article about limiting access to Yosemite National Park
  13. yosemite.jpg - Image file of Yosemite National Park (112 x 158)

To complete this task:
  1. Use the files listed in above to create a newspaper-style page. The page should include several columns, but the number, size, and layout of the columns is up to you.
  2. Use all of the files on the page, with the following exceptions: use only one of the two files twlinks.htm or twlinks2.htm, and use only one of the two image files ppoint.jpg or ppoint2.jpg. Note that not all of the links in the content files point to existing files.
  3. Use background colors to give the Web page an attractive and interesting appearance.
  4. Decorate your HTML with comments that make it easy for George to recognize the sections that will be graded.
  5. Your code should follow correct XHTML syntax rules for XHTML 1.0 Transitional as confirmed by W3C Markup Validation Service. Your HTML should be easy for others to read and interpret.
  6. Name your web page like this: T4CP4_TravelWeb_yName.html

When you are finished:
  1. Use FTP to upload your completed web page to your Tulane Student Web Space.
  2. Copy the URL of your website's main page and paste it into a new eMail message to George (gnorth@tulane.edu). Subject of this eMail MUST be "Tutorial 4 - Case Problem 4"
