Case Problem 1 from Tutorial 8 is presented in our TextBook beginning on page HTML 632 (near Figure 8-64). Additional information, including the Grading Rubric, is found on the Assignment WebPage. Make certain you understand the Gading Rubric. Its requirements are not the same as the TextBook discussion of this Case Problem.
Objective:
This assignment requires you to design and complete a WebSite, minimum 4 WebPages. One WebPage of your new site is a redesign of an earlier WebPage, dessertWEB. You will name this WebPage AppleTorte.html. A preview of this one page is included on textbook page HTML 632 (near Figure 8-64). Remember, you are designing and implementing a WebSite, not one WebPage. Your WebSite Elements discussion will not count as one of the required four page, since it is required by its own Rubric Item.

Data Files are located in the tutorial.08/case1 folder.
As is always the case, file named "modernizr-1.5.js" we will not need. You will continue to use (link to) a version of "modernizr.js" on George's WebSite. Using this file is important, this is why all of us will link to the same version of modernizr.
What to do:
Remember that one Grading Rubric Item is to complete the Tutorial's example WebSite, "Tree and Book". Do this before beginning on the Case Problem Assignment. If you complete "Tree and Book", you will not have difficulty with this WebSite assignment.
You are provided with two mostly complete style sheets. One is dwbase.css. This provides basic styles for your WebSite. One is dwlayout.css. This style sheet provides styles for the redesigned recipe page ... AppleTorte.html. Feel free to modify and/or add to these style sheets.
You are provided with all of the content for one recipe WebPage, a page named recipetxt.htm. You will rename this page to be AppleTorte.html. You will make a new Style Sheet, named dweffects.css. This you will use to satisfy the requirements of Grading Rubric Item #7. These are the same styles you practiced when creating the Example WebSite, "Tree and Book". These are the same styles that are documented in Case Problem 1 on textbook page HTML 632 (near Figure 8-64). Be creative. Just because the textbook refers to color value (171, 171, 171) offset 15 pixels doesn't mean you should limit your design to the same. Be creative. Make certain your new style sheet, dweffects.css, is well documented.
Your dessertWEB site is required to have a minimum of 4 WebPages. One page is the recipe WebPage. One required page is a links WebPage. Pretend that your site has multiple recipes. Your links WebPage is how visitors to your site will find your recipe WebPages. Also, use your links WebPage to link to related WebSites that add value to your site. Like, maybe a link to Whole Foods, where recipe ingredients can be purchased. Be creative. You are not required to have more than one recipe WebPage, but you may have more? Another possible WebPage would be a "splash page". A splash page is a WebSite homepage used to greet visitors to your site ... and to point visitors to other important WebPages, like your links page. You need a minimum of 4 WebPages, so be creative.
Your dessertWEB site is required to have at lease one additional style sheet. Name this new style sheet "print.css". Use this style sheet to control the layout of a printed WebPage. This is discussed in your textbook beginning on p.HTML 595 (near Figure 8-40). You want visitors to your recipe WebPages to be able to print our recipes and ingredients lists without having to print the headers, footers, navigation lists, and other non-essential information.
Use a folder on your computer to keep all pages for this WebSite organized. Make a new folder on CPST WebServer, name it "Week_11". Use it to keep your WebSites organized.
Save often. Upload your WebPage to CPST WebServer often. Browse to your WebPage often to see your progress. Use W3C MarkUp Validation Service and W3C CSS Validation Service often to guarantee you are writing syntax-error-free HTML and CSS.
Turn your WebSite in to be graded.
Turn in your WebSite by eMail'ing the URL of your class Home Page, include in your eMail text saying "Please grade my Week ... ???what ever??? ...".
Turn in before midnight Friday
If you turn in before midnight Friday, I will give you feedback you can use to make improvements. You can turn in assignments as often as you like. I will never grade assignments until after due date is past. Even if you are not complete, you benefit by turning in assignments early.
