This is a graded assignment.
Case Problem 2 from Tutorial 5 is presented in our TextBook beginning on page HTML 383 (near Figure 5-55). Additional information, including the Grading Rubric, is found on the Assignment WebPage. Make certain you understand the Gading Rubric. Its requirements are not the same as the TextBook discussion of this Case Problem.
Objective:
This assignment requires you to write the HTML for a WebTable and to write the CSS needed to style the table. You are also required to build a complete WeSite using menus to link multiple pages for ease of navigation. An emphasis needs to be placed on links to WebSites external to your own that add value to your site. This is your chance to demonstrate skill in the development of WebSites.
Needed Data Files:
Chamberlain Data Files are located in the tutorial.05/case2/ folder. And Data Files for the Example WebSite, KPAF Radio are located in the tutorial.05/tutorial/ folder.
As is always the case, file named "modernizr-1.5.js" we will not need. You will continue to use (link to) a version of "modernizr.js" on George's WebSite. Using this file is important, this is why all of us will link to the same version of modernizr.
What to do:
Remember that one Grading Rubric Item is to complete the Tutorial's example WebSite, KPAF Radio. Do this before beginning on the Case Problem Assignment.
You start your Chamberlain WebSite with some design ideas, including a Logo, a navigation menu just below the logo. You are free to use this as is, build on it, or use your own design ideas. So, you are in charge of design. Your site will be a minimum of 8 WebPages. You are responsible for finding and linking to WebSites external to yours that can add value to your page. These links should be part of your existing WebSite pages, and you will make a new 'links' page to house some of additional links. You can add a "Splash" page as a site HomePage. Many WebSites use a "Splash" page ... you see them all the time.
When starting your Chamberlain WebSite, work exclusively on your Calendar, until complete. Write a little, save, view your page, upload to CPST WebServer, use both W3C validators.
Some of the content of one WebPage is provided for you in a file named febtxt.htm, which you should rename to be February.html. You are provided with a file named ccc.css. It includes much of the CSS needed to style your pages. All the needed image files are also provided, but if you wish, you are welcome to use other or additional images. You will use a new External Style Sheet, name it 'calendar.css', to style your Chamberlain Civic Center Calendar as per the steps of the Case Problem and as per the Grading Rubric.
Use our HTML Template for all WebPages because it includes the correct reference to the character set we will use, "utf-8", and, it includes the link to the version of modernizr.js we are using.
Use a folder on your computer to keep all pages for this WebSite organized. Make a new folder on CPST WebServer, name it "Week_08". Use it to keep your WebSites organized.
One more red paragraph, keep in mind that much of what is required of you in this assignment is similar to what we have already done. You don't write everything from scratch. Reuse, make it happen.
Turn your WebSite in to be graded.
Turn in your WebSite by eMail'ing the URL of your class Home Page, include in your eMail text saying "Please grade my Week 8 WebSite, Chamberlain Civic Center", the midterm exam.
It is obvious that you included a link to your Chamberlain WebSite on your class Home Page. By the end of our Semester, your Home Page will have links to ALL assignment WebSites. Make certain your links work correctly. Make certain you have linked to the WebSite you want graded.
Turn in before midnight Friday
If you turn in before midnight Friday, I will give you feedback you can use to make improvements. You can turn in assignments as often as you like. I will never grade assignments until after due date is past. Even if you are not complete, you benefit by turning in assignments early.
