Tomorow's written assignment

Reflecting on the Journal entries over the last two days, I expect: 1/3 of you'll will struggle and produce a mostly complete web site project; 1/3 of you'll will struggle and produce a less than complete web site project; 1/3 of you'll will struggle and not produce a web site project; and (I hope not, but) someone will not struggle at all. I want you to understand that the ONLY failure in this endeavor is that someone who didn't struggle. Everyone else will meet and exceed my expectations for our first project. Your comments about this are appreciated -- in class and in our daily journal.

Artifacts are objects produced or shaped by human craft. In this class, I am much more interested in the production, the struggle, than in the artifacts themselves. You do NOT become an artisan by reading a book, or by following a menu, or a list of instructions. You become an artisan by investing your time in the struggle. The World Wide Web offers all of us an opportunity to become artisans. Educators benefit more than anyone from the opportunity to be a web authors. The web offers us a chance that millions will visit and benefit from the artifacts we shape and publish on the web.

So, I urge you to struggle on. The only failure in this class is not giving yourself a chance to fail. One of our best learning experiences will come with your chance to review the works of others. Our virtual class meeting provides this chance. Be ready to participate!
