Tomorrow's written assignment House Keeping Last Class? Unlike traditional documents, web pages are almost never finished. Web sites are the same. We can say that a web site is ALWAYS under construction. Based on this ... you have an orginizational problem now that your are about to begin your second web site project. Why? One feature of a web page is its ability to display itself on any computer. Another feature ... most web pages are editable by anyone, turning the document into you own ... this is called reuse (note: you need special access, like FTP, to change an original document). Web pages are 100 constructed of plain text. If this is true, where do the picture come from? The internet lets us transport web pages around the world in the blink of an eye. The editability, displayability, and transportability of web pages makes them unique ... no other document format comes close. Anyone notice that I widen the first syllabus page (this one)? What about Copyright Law and digital documents? In Class Today Why does your site look so different at home, at school, at your friend's house? How to consider orginizing the files on your web site. An Index Page ... is a Home Page ... is the first page of your site. Is it resonable to expect that your index page will be the first page visitors see? What is BBEdit ... ? Was reading messages in individual Discussion Groups helpful in understanding the work of others? What was annoying about participating in our Thursday afternoon chat? What else? Tell me something positive about our virtual learning experience. What about Website Project 2 -- due this Thursday, July 20 at 9:00 AM? I expect greater focus on the content for this project ... for example -- the final product should be useable by you in a processional setting, as a teacher or whatever your profession. What is the bigger picture, how does your web site fit in your larger professional role? Who is your audience. What resources other than your web site are needed? What are Louisiana's content standards? How will you evaluate uses of this web site? List sources of images, music or text that you're using. Provide links back to the original source. Say thanks to anyone who provided resources or help. List any books and other analog media that you used as information sources as well. I expect that this is a group project. Some of you are in Dr. Levitt's class that meets in the mornings. It is possible to coordinate this project with work in Dr. Levitt's class.
